Regular Dental Checkup
Regular dental checkups are an essential part of maintaining a healthy smile. We recommend visiting our office every six months, for your checkup and professional teeth cleaning to remove any plaque or buildup not removed by brushing/flossing.
Regular Dental Checkup in Baltimore
A dental checkup provides us with the opportunity to examine your oral health and monitor any changes that have occurred since your last visit. At Hamilton Family Dentistry, a regular dental checkup includes a variety of services, all of which are critical for your oral health.
- Check-in at the front desk. The first step in any visit is to check in at the front desk—please bring your most recent insurance card to each appointment.
- X-rays, if needed. Occasionally we use digital X-rays to obtain a detailed view of your teeth and their health to detect any conditions that may be hidden beneath the surface, such as internal decay, periodontitis, jawbone deterioration, cysts, and oral cancer. We work to ensure any discomfort is minimized during this part of your visit,.
- Professional teeth cleaning. Your dental hygienist will complete your teeth cleaning to clean and polish your teeth while eliminating any plaque, bacteria, and other buildups on your teeth that cannot be removed with at-home brushing and flossing.
- Exam. After your teeth are cleaned, Dr. Wolfson or Dr. Geary full examination of your oral health, including identifying if any cavities, tooth decay, gum disease, or signs of oral cancer are present to identify any possible issues as soon as possible. We also check your face, tongue, throat, gums, and other soft oral tissues for any signs of risk or disease.
