Financial and Insurance InformationWhat is a dental emergency?
Dental emergencies refer to any dental issues that require immediate attention to stop bleeding, save a tooth, treat a severe infection, or alleviate severe pain. Severe infections or tooth abscesses can be life-threatening, so it is recommended that you contact your dentist immediately. If your dentist is unavailable, you should seek urgent care at the nearest medical facility. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you may have a dental emergency. You should contact your dentist immediately:
- A tooth knocked out
- A chipped or cracked tooth
- Bleeding in your mouth that won’t stop
- Extreme pain or severe swelling in your gums, mouth, or jaw
- Toothache and swelling in your cheeks or face
- Jaw injury
- Excessive tooth sensitivity that doesn’t subside
- A loose or misaligned tooth.
